FTS stands for First Time Shooter. We are not your typical gun folks, and we are proud of that. Our mission is simple: create a welcoming, judgment-free space where people of all experience levels can learn about firearms and grow into confident, responsible gun owners.

Patrick started FTS because his first years as a gun owner were frustrating. He felt unwelcome at many gun stores and ranges, and the training classes he took were disappointing—most instructors just read from slides packed with outdated information. It wasn’t until he met better mentors years later that he finally understood what good instruction should be. That realization drove him to create the kind of welcoming, practical, and modern training experience he had always wished existed.

We love working with new shooters. Some instructors shy away from beginners. We see it as the whole point: meeting people where they are and guiding them from the ground up with safety, empowerment, and practical know-how, all in a relaxed environment.

• Scan, Spray, & Away (less-lethal self-defense)

• Responsible Gun Ownership (Indiana laws, storage, carry methods)

• Introduction to Firearms (parts, function, ammo basics)

• Introduction to Shooting Fundamentals (dry-fire and laser practice)

• Introduction to Shooting (first shots at the range)

• Introduction to Defensive Shooting (core concepts and techniques for using a pistol defensively)

• Pistol Practice Series (structured practice to develop your skills)

What sets us apart

Every class is designed for the way real people actually learn: small groups or one-on-one, no judgment, no jargon, and no assumption that you should already know any of this. We meet you exactly where you are and build from there.

Service area

We proudly serve the greater Indianapolis area and surrounding Indiana communities. Classroom sessions are held in a comfortable local co-working space, and all live-fire training takes place at the beautiful Atlanta Conservation Club.
